David C. Smith & Brant House
Project Type
Student Residence
Location
Kingston, Ontario
Client
Queen’s University
Two new residences in the residential quadrant at the intersection of Stuart and Lower Albert Street, in the heart of Queen’s University Main Campus. Each building, although different in height and shape, accommodates approximately 272 students in predominantly two bedroom/shared bathroom suites. Just as importantly, the residences include student social spaces such as lounges, common rooms, and laundry facilities. These informal spaces are crucial to creating memorable experiences for the students’ first years at Queen’s.
The main floor of Smith House accommodates a large marché-style dining facility and kitchen, known as Location 21.
Project was a joint venture with Diamond Schmitt Architects.
