About Us

Established in 1990, Shoalts and Zaback Architects Ltd. is the oldest, continually-operating Architecture and Design firm in Kingston, Ontario. What started as a partnership between two architects has now grown into a dynamic group of architects, interior designers, technologists, intern architects, and support staff. Today, we take on projects across all types and scales, from small renovations and accessibility upgrades to multi-million-dollar new builds.

SZA provides full services in architecture, interior design, feasibility studies, high-level concept design, sustainable design, space planning, site planning, and approvals for a wide range of building types. The office is optimally staffed; large enough to provide the technical and administrative skills needed to undertake projects of significant scale, yet small enough to ensure the continuity and personal attention that is essential to design quality and professionally responsible service.

Since 1990, SZA has won 57 awards for design excellence, including 7 Ontario Library Association Design Awards and a Governor General’s Award.
