The Greenboro District Library was a 25,000 sq.ft addition to the Greenboro Community Centre. The Centre is organized around a new interior street with a cafe and community rooms. The project also includes gymnasiums, community rooms, and a daycare. The street allows separate access to the Library, Community Rooms, and Community Centre.

The library was designed both as a community focal point and a “library of the future.” It confidently embraces new computer technologies, and new strategies of pro-active customer service. The approach is based on ideas from large, new bookstores and new methods of public service. These include elements such as self check-in, check-out and a drive-by book drop. The design is flexible, open, inviting, and accessible to all.

The project achieved LEED Silver.
