Restoration Projects

Wood House Museum

Location: Cornwall Ontario

Size: 4,000 sq ft

Client: City of Cornwall

The scope of this project included relocation of the Historic Wood House (circa 1840) and restoration of the exterior and selected interior rooms. The relocation was required to prevent the demolition of the house - which was located in an industrial complex.

A planned phase 2 was to include an underground expansion of 5,000 sq. ft. to accommodate both community based exhibits and museum based exhibits and programs. Also to be included was a small gift shop and tea room off of the entrance lobby. The design exploited the sloped site facing the St. Lawrence to bring light into the public areas.

The project was developed following a detailed public participation process. In association wtih Philip Goldsmith and Company.
