The City Archives' collection is one of Ottawa's most valuable holdings of information resources. Archival records and the information they contain are valuable assets to the City and to the community. The Archives serves Council and City Staff as well as citizens, students, genealogist, jounalists, reporters, and researchers.

The Archival Material is stored in vaults with stingent climate control consistent with best archival practices. The facility also contains a Public Research Library, Exhibition Gallery, Community Meeting Rooms, and Conservation Laboratories + Studios.

The Archives functions are co-located with the Ottawa Library Tech. Services + Material Handling Centre. JV with Barry Hobin Architects.

The project is a LEED Silver Building featuring a heat pump system with heat recovery, low flow plumbing fixtures, and a well insulated building envelope. A total of 50% annual energy savings is achieved.
